What’s the smartest thing your company did in the past year?
The smartest thing leadership did at Purk & Associates was go long on staffing to accommodate growth. We targeted and directly recruited nine experienced experts in addition to bringing on three brand new accountants. We forecasted unprecedented growth, and our forecasts were dead on. It took courage and foresight, and we are extremely proud of the team we have built.
How do you differentiate your business from others in your industry?
We are independent. Purk & Associates is locally owned by entrepreneurs who work and live in the metro region. We do not send client work offshore for processing. We do not send calls to call centers to be answered by non-accountants. We do not rely on artificial intelligence. We provide unparalleled expertise to our clients on a real-time basis, we are accessible, and we stand behind our work.
What have been the keys to success for the business?
Our team and clients. We measure our success by the success of our clients. We are all-in!
What is your best advice for other business owners to find success in business?
Hustle. I think what is missing for most business owners is the hustle and ability to reposition on the fly. Make decisions quickly and with precision. If adjustments are needed, adjust and continue the forward momentum. A “wait-and-see” approach costs time, and time is money. Successful businesses aren’t built from 9-5. They take constant focus, thought and attention.
